Route 41 Roundabout, Londonderry Township, PA
Did you know that Laurel Valley is your one-stop shop for bulk materials for your project?
Laurel Valley Soils supplied Planting Soil, Sandy Gravel Paver Soil, two different blends of Wetland Bio-Soils and River Rock for the PENNDOT Route 41 Corridor Roundabout Project in Londonderry Township, PA
The project totally updates the PA 41 and Route 926 intersection, replacing a traditional cross intersection with a modern single-lane, four-legged roundabout. The Route 41 corridor is heavily traveled by passenger cars, heavy trucks, and occasional horse-drawn Amish buggies through agricultural and residential lands. It serves as a traffic-calming measure, helping reduce vehicle speeds while improving safety and traffic on the busy corridor.
Complex projects like this can use a variety of engineered soils made to meet the multitude of functional and ornamental landscape requirements.
In addition to the roundabout installation, the project also included:
- New stormwater management features to account for stormwater runoff.
- Converting part of the old PA 41 roadway into a wetland mitigation zone to support environmental and wildlife sustainability.
The Route 41 improvements were made in a varied and technical site work, especially because traffic, landscape, and environmental requirements were overlapping. When a site includes stormwater systems, high-traffic areas, and ecological restoration, the materials behind it have to perform consistently.
Every part of the redesign, from stormwater control to the wetland mitigation zone, depended on reliable materials that met strict specifications.
Laurel Valley Soils supports this type of work with products that are engineered, tested, and delivered to spec.
