Spanning History and the Brandywine River
Spanning nearly 2,000 acres across the Brandywine River, the historic Chadds Ford Bridge, originally built in 1925, connects Pennsbury and Chadds Ford Townships.
It was formally recognized as the Twin Bridges Rural Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.
This six-span, closed spandrel arch bridge is a hallmark of early 20th-century infrastructure, carrying both scenic and historic significance.
Constructed in an older era, the bridge lacked sidewalks, shoulders, and had limited load capacity that impacted traffic access and pedestrian safety.
Laurel Valley Soils supplied the sitework contractor with a custom blend of leaf compost and aged mulch fines. This material was used to amend the salvaged onsite topsoil for landscape stabilization within the floodplain.
